Only one item is held, a fortnightly account book kept by Bob Roper, licensee of the Crown Hotel, Burnett's Face. The volume was salvaged on a visit to the Face in December 1957. A daily running book which Roper used to keep in the bar is still in private hands. Miners were paid fortnightly; Roper would advance them for drinks etc. and settle up on payday or whenever he coud get it. This system of accounting was common in West Coast pubs. The volume contains daily records of names and amounts, in a combination of pen, pencil, and coloured pencil entries. It has had some damage from damp in the past and is fragile. A typed note by Les Cleveland (the donor) has been laid in.
